This shoot had “Girl Squad” written all over it and I couldn’t have been more happy then to be apart of it. I got together with my good friend Amy a few nights prior to map out our concept and ideas for our shoot. The minute we sat down, it was like ideas after ideas! Amy is one creative cool chick and it was so awesome to collaborate with her to bring our visions to life. She also happens to be a hardcore vintage collector and decided it was time to share her findings with the world. This shoot was in efforts to put her style and collection on live mannequins for her up and coming online vintage shop. We gathered a few badass chicks, decked them out from head to toe and made magic. Check out the link below to find out how to get your hands on these awesome vintage clothes!
www.instagram.com/heygrrrlcollective/ I truly believe people cross paths for a reason. I was lucky enough to cross Mellissa Jewels, an incredible and beautifully talented photographer from Murrieta. I did Melissa’s makeup one day at work and learned that she was a well-established photographer from the area. Due to my recent interest and obsession with photography, I immediately took advantage of the situation and decided to pick her brain. She attempted to teach me everything she possibly could in the short time I was servicing her, granted it was as if she was speaking a foreign language to me. She was then kind enough to offer to set up a date with me where we could shoot together and she could teach me the basics. We set the shoot up for a week later! I was ecstatic! I reached out to an old client of mine, to see if she’d be willing to be my muse. I met Kat when she was just 15 and did her makeup for the first time for her quinceanera. It’s been about 6 years since I’ve known her and have been lucky enough to have kept in contact with her as well as have done her makeup for multiple events. Kat came down to The Cave, where Madelyn and I did our magic! When we were finished, Kat looked simply majestic! Or in more descriptive words… like a magical, fairy princess! I could NOT wait to shoot her! We went down to Glen Arbor Park in Murrieta, where we met up with Melissa and some other students. We immediately got to work! Mellissa started teaching me everything from the different buttons and functions on my camera to what angles flatter your subject best. It was a lot of information needless to say but totally informative! I learned so much that day and couldn’t have been more grateful for the opportunity. Thank goodness Kat was so easy to shoot, she made my “photography skills” look really good!
So because my first shoot with Randi was such a success, we decided to do another one! This time we got together with the one and only Miss. Madelyn (my amazing hair partner in crime) and Tess who happens to be an INCREDIBLE florist. And when I say incredible, I mean incredible as in do yourself a favor and check out her magical insta page the minute you finish reading this! Randi came over bright and early and we headed over to The Cave to meet up with the Hair Whisperer herself (well technically Jamba Juice but that’s unnecessary information). A couple braids and brushstrokes later… Madelyn and I completed our model! Randi looked stunning, as if she just stepped out of a magazine! We gathered our things then headed off to our destination to begin shooting. We found a grassy field covered with huge rocks and parked it. Randi and I spent the rest of the evening shooting. We had so much fun and were so happy with the way the pictures were turning out. The shoot couldn’t have been more magical. Between the beautiful flower pieces Tess made us, Madelyn’s gorgeous hair work, and Randi just being Randi, the pictures couldn’t have turned out more beautiful! Today was definitely a success!
www.instagram.com/tess.made/ So today’s shoot was fun! I got to doll up my friend’s beautiful daughter and shoot her, simply for the heck of it! I met Arianna briefly at work one day and immediately was taken back by her beauty. I mean can we talk about those eyes? They are by far the bluest eyes I’ve yet to see! And those eye brows?? Those eyebrows? They’re like Brooke Shields and Madonna’s lovechild! Believe it or not, but this was Arianna’s first styled shoot. She was so easy to photograph because she didn’t even have to try to look good! She would just look at the camera and boom, it was magic! I love shooting young girls who’ve never modled or done anything like this before. It’s such a great feeling to boost a young women’s confidence by simply getting them in front of a camera.
I met Randi almost a decade ago when she was just a little girl shopping at the MAC counter with her mom. She used come to the counter wearing every color of eyeshadow on her eyes, spending all her money, buying anything I showed her. She was absolutely in love with makeup and was so interested in learning how to apply it. I was always happy to be an influence in her passion for makeup and someone she looked up to. Throughout the years of Randi being one of my number one customers, we developed a very sisterly relationship. Not only did I teach her everything I knew about makeup but I would also advise her as a big sister would do to her little sister about anything and everything she came to me for.
Throughout the years, I’ve been lucky enough to watch her grow into a beautiful and confident young woman. It's been so gratifying to have been a part of shaping the person she is today. I wanted the concept behind the shoot to embody everything Randi is: young, wild and free. This is baby Mia! She’s one of my dearest friend’s daughters and is an absolute doll! She also happens to be my first muse! I always was interested in photography but really fell in love with the idea of being behind a camera after dabbing into a little modeling myself. I found that I loved the concept of taking a vision and bringing it to life as well as collaborating with others to make it real. After working with so many photographers, I thought to myself, “hmm I could totally do this.” So boom! I bought myself a pretty sweet camera, researched photography and found some “models.” I knew I wanted baby Mia to be my first subject and can I just say she was such a natural; it made shooting her feel like I was a “real photographer.” So there you have it people! Makeup artist, hair stylist and photographer! #packagedeal
